Artist's Description
This original painting of York features the terracotta rooftops of York viewed from the top of the Central Tower of York Minster.
The Minster Yard is shown in the foreground of the painting and just above that you can see the roofs of High Petergate to the right, Low Petergate to the left and Stonegate which runs from the middle to the top right.
Notice the people in the foreground. Minster Yard is crowded with people most days particularly at the height of the tourist season. I love hearing the different languages of all the visitors.
